The Head of Data Office, Global Operations is responsible for architecting and institutionalizing modern data governance policies, and for leading the execution of a range of data governance activities to manage and protect the company’s data assets in Global Operations. The role will be accountable to lead and provide direction in the following areas for Global Operations data: data governance strategy and operations, data standards development and management, data catalog capability, data quality management, data policy, and compliance.

We require a key cross-functional change agent, to drive data maturity, scalability, and competency by providing thought leadership and business influence. This individual should be a seasoned professional with shown experience in data governance and leading/managing change with a solid focus on data management, data adoption, and data operations.

You will challenge the status quo and will have outstanding communication and influencing skills. This leader will share frequent interactions with senior leaders across Global Operations, as well as close collaboration with business teams. Success in this role will result in improved business decision-making, accelerated innovation, and enhanced productivity.

This role can be based in Gaithersburg, MD. Macclesfield, UK, or in Gartuna, Sweden.

What you will do:

  • Establish and drive a Global Operations roadmap for data management strategy and governance implementation

  • Create, implement, and manage a data governance framework in alignment with Enterprise data activities to improve data quality through policies, standards, principles, governance metrics, business processes, and data architecture

  • Develop standards, policies, and procedures to support the data and information governance strategy and provide technical assurance for the ongoing implementation of the data governance policy within Global Operations

  • Lead and advance data governance principles, policies, and programs for stewardship, advocacy, and custodianship of data ensuring data governance policies and practices are embedded

  • Build a trusted relationship with senior leaders and other key stakeholders across the Enterprise to advise and influence organizational change related to data management and data governance representing Global Operations

  • Influence Global Operations alignment to data-related processes and policies in partnership with Business Process Owners (BPO) and Regional data stewards

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in CS, computer engineering)

  • Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated ability working in data-centric roles involving data management, data strategy, data governance, data architecture, or related area in a global organization

  • Advanced knowledge of data governance best practices, business, and technology issues related to the management of enterprise information assets, and approaches related to data

  • Shown experience developing data ownership and stewardship in a large, complex organization

  • A solid understanding of data needs for analysis and business performance management

  • Possess a blend of experience in Data governance with good information practice and business processes

  • Background in a global working environment and building relationships across cultures

  • Experience in developing Data governance/information management framework, policies, standards, and guidelines

  • Ability to influence and persuade tactfully, to obtain desired outcomes while maintaining effective, positive, organizational relationships

  • A firm understanding of data and information management practices including information lifecycle management, master data management, and carrying out business audits and requirements gathering

  • Strong influencing skills in a matrix organization

  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization and communicate technical solutions to a non-technical audience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS/MA/Master’s Degree

  • Experience in S/4

  • Leadership experience leading cross-functional global teams and enterprise-wide programs in data management and/or operating model changes

  • Global Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain knowledge

  • Experience integrating complex processes and information strategies
